Welcome to Lipedema Source! It’s easy to contribute to the site. Submit your article or story through the contact page, and it will be reviewed and possibly edited for clarity. You will receive the copy prior to adding it to the site.
My goal is to spread lipedema awareness, to get our stories out on the internet to the public, and to educate patients and caregivers about lipedema. Some contributors also write articles to teach others about lipedema and/or its associated symptoms or comorbidities.
I publish all submissions, from ladies who find writing therapeutic, to bloggers who want to bring their work to a new audience. All stories are also distributed through the Facebook page.
Contact me, and I’ll be happy to get your story added to the site.
What is the word count?
There is no official word count, and contributors are free to write as much or as little as they’d like. However, please try to make your submissions at least 200 words in length.
Can I submit a picture along with my story?
Yes! It’s great when contributors include personal photos with their story, but please do not send stock photos – only send photos you have permission to share. Please make sure if you’re sharing a photo of someone else, that the person has given their consent. If you do include photos, make sure they’re at least 432 x 288 pixels and of high quality.
What if I don’t want to use my real name?
I only publish a variation of your real name, using your first or middle name and last initial. Many choose to write under a pseudonym.
What if the story I submitted originally appeared on my blog?
Your story can still be published. Make sure you include a link to your blog when you submit your story so I may link to it at the end of your piece.
Can I publish my story elsewhere after it’s published here?
Yes, you retain rights to the stories you publish here. I do ask that if you use the version of your story which has been edited here, please credit that it originally appeared on this site.
Do you accept poetry or fiction?
I’m happy to publish poetry and first-person nonfiction essays and blogs.
Thank you so much for your interest!
